Description
10/23/25 - This is an original bayonet designed for the M1895 Mannlicher rifle and issued to a soldier in the 34th infantry Regiment during WWI. It was manufactured at Oesterreichsche Waffenfabrik-Gesellschaft (Austrian State Weapons Manufacturing Company), later known as Steyr. The M1895 bayonet is significant as it was the first to feature an inverted blade profile, where the cutting edge faces upward when fixed. This example is unit marked at the pommel, serial numbered on the crosspiece, proof stamped on one side of the blade, and maker marked on the other. The blade is in very good shape, with light patina and discoloration throughout, and micro-scratches from polishing. Comes with original scabbard which is also properly proofed and maker marked on the frog stud. The scabbard is in good condition with no dents, but there is uniform oxidation throughout, aside from some scattered areas where the original paint remains
