Description
4/22/25 - This is a great condition transitional M17 Heer helmet. The helmet still maintains the eagle decal on the left side, the decal has become faded and chipped over the years but is still present and recognizable. The right side of the helmet still has the remnants of the other decal, but at some point this decal was painted over during this helmets service. The helmet maintains most of its original paint and is in overall great condition. The liner is still present in this helmet, but has become stiff with age. These M17 helmets are known as "transitional" helmets as they were made for the Austrian military for WW1. After the war was over, these helmets would go on to be purchased by the then growing military of Nazi Germany, being repurposed for use, until the adoption of the M35 helmet.
