Description
03/20/26 - This is a Smith & Wesson K-22 Outdoorsman 1st model revolver, chambered in .22 LR with a 6" barrel. Production on this variation began at serial 632132 in 1931, and ended in 1940 with 682419 (19,500 total). Extrapolating from other known examples, this one, serial number 646851, likely dates between 1932-1936. The revolver has the matching serial number stamped on the butt of the grip frame, the underside of the barrel, the top of the cylinder, and the interior of the right grip panel. It also has the assembly number stamped on both sides of the yoke. The revolver has excellent mechanics, tight lockup and perfect timing. Trigger is silky smooth in single and double action. It has retained about 92% of its lustrous original bluing, with wear around the muzzle and high edges of the frame and cylinder, turn line, and light, spotty, surface oxidation along both sides of the barrel. There are a couple of small spots of patina: one on the frame adjacent to the left grip panel, and one on the cylinder. Original wood grips are in great shape aside from minor chipping at the bottom of the left panel, and one small nick at the bottom of the right panel. Minty bore.
