Description
3/11/26 - This is a gorgeously preserved example of a factory-engraved Whitney Pocket Revolver. It was manufactured in the 1870's by Eli Whitney, inventor of the Cotton Gin, and is chambered in .32 WCF. It has a 3.5" octagonal barrel. It is nickel-plated and features a beautiful floral/geometric engraving pattern. The gun is all matching, serialized on the underside of the butt on the grip frame, barrel, base pin, cylinder, and interior of grip panels. Smooth mechanical function, including excellent timing and tight lockup. It has retained most of its finish, with areas of spotty wear on the cylinder. There is also mild scattered wear along the perimeter of the barrel, which very slightly mars some of the lettering of the maker and patent info at the top of the barrel, but the visual effect this has is minor. There is light surface oxidation scattered along the grip frame beneath the cylinder, front grip strap in the notch where the middle finger rests during operation, the cylinder itself, and both sides of the hammer. Comes with excellent matching set of perfectly-fitted wood grips. The bore is excellent for the gun's age, with strong rifling, but there is mild oxidation throughout. Antique, so no licensing required on this one.
