Beautiful Traditional Japanese Wakizashi - NBTHK Hozon Certified

3/23/26- For sale is a beautiful traditionally made Japanese Wakizashi short sword with official NBTHK documentation. The sword comes from the Shinshinto period of sword making, roughly from 1781 to 1876 when smiths returned to the artistic traditions of the great Japanese masters. The sword has the plain wooden fittings and purple silk sack that is traditional after a professional Japanese sword polishing. The blade is in perfect condition, with no scratches, rust, chips, wear, pitting, or any other sort of damage. The fittings are entirely plain wood, also in excellent condition, and the handle is easily removable to inspect the tang. The sword has also been inspected and certified by Japan's Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai (日本美術刀剣保存協会; The Society for Preservation of Japanese Art Swords), the world's leading authority for evaluating Japanese swords. The sword has been awarded a Hozon designation, indicating that it is recognized as authentic and worthy of preservation by NBTHK. This is a beautiful example of Japanese swordsmithing and could be the centerpiece of any Japanese collection or an introduction to the world of high-end Japanese swords. The sword also comes with a set of decorative sword fittings if that is your preferred method of display, along with a patterned silk sack.
