9/26/25 - These specialized spectacles, known as Maskenbrille, were issued to front-line soldiers who required vision correction while wearing a gas mask, as the metal arms of standard Dienstbrille (eyeglasses) interfered with the mask’s seal. Featuring short double arms fitted with adjustable cotton tape designed to loop around the ears without disrupting the fit, they were the only eyeglasses permitted by Germany in combat zones. This set includes the original case with a paper instruction label affixed inside the lid, and a blue felt divider for protection in the main compartment.
