Description
8/12/25 - This is a minty example of a Colt Bankers Special Revolver from 1937. Produced in relatively small numbers from 1926 to 1943, the Colt Bankers Special is one of Colt’s rarest pre-war snub-nose revolvers. Built on the Colt “D” frame and most often chambered in .38 Colt New Police (.38 S&W), it features a 2-inch barrel, rounded grip frame, and the exceptional fit and finish Colt was known for. Favored by bank guards, detectives, and security personnel, its short production run and limited issue make surviving examples highly sought after by Colt collectors today. This one is matching and has retained about 94% of its original high polish bluing. The majority of the finish loss comes in the form of general high edge and muzzle wear. While there isn't much actual finish loss, there are areas of light spotty oxidation here and there. Fitted with checkered wood grips. Excellent bore with strong rifling.
