The hammer is made from machined steel and has a checkered spur, offering a secure grip for thumb-cocking. It is missing the firing pin, which appears to have been of the press-fit or riveted type, commonly found on 2nd or 3rd Generation Colt SAA revolvers or high-quality reproductions such as those made by Uberti or USFA.
