Danish Resistance German M42 Helmet

7/18/25 - The following is a in interesting example of a German M42 helmet that has been modified with markings for the Danish resistance. The exterior of the helmet has been hand painted in black and there is hand painted decals of the Danish resistance on the left an right flaps under the vent holes. The hand painted decals have some sign of aging, but it is unknown when they were applied or when the helmet was hand painted in black. The interior of the helmet is very clean with freckles of the black paint inside mixed with the traditional field gray paint. The interior dome of the helmet has a few concentrated areas of rust. The steel band and leather interior are intact and the leather liner is soft and malleable with very minimal sign of wear and there is some surface cracking in the front of the leather near the band. Maker and size of the helmet is unknown. Lot number #1596.
