Description
9/17/25 - This is a Don Fisher custom Colt Combat Commander manufactured originally in 1978, with the custom work performed sometime in the early 1980s. Fisher was a renowned Colorado pistolsmith whose custom match-grade 1911s, as indicated by the "Fisher custom firearms" logo engraved on the slides of his builds, earned a following among competitive shooters for being capable of 2-inch groups at 50 yards. Fisher's reputation eventually lead to him building pistols for 1979 IPSC World Champion Ross Seyfried. This example features a welded and hand-fitted match barrel, a comprehensive accuracy package with slide to frame tightening, crisp trigger work, carefully executed metal checkering, subtle carry bevels, and extensive reliability tuning. The gun has retained about 97% of its finish, with a small patch of wear at the front of the right side of the matte black slide. There is also some light thinning around the muzzle, and a bit of minor high-edge wear on the slide. The underside of matte silver frame has a couple spots of thinning on the high edges, and there is a small area of rub wear below the trigger guard. There is a very faint "idiot scratch" below the slide stop that is difficult to see under normal lighting conditions. Mechanically sublime, with fantastic bore and grips. Includes one original magazine.
