Description

11/13/25 - This is an excellent example of an early Webley Mark IV revolver manufactured in the early 1900s. The revolver has the proper "broad arrow" proof stamps, indicating it was issued to the British military, likely for use in the Boer War. British commercial proof marks are also present, including crown/BNP and crown/V markings. The top of the barrel is marked “ENGLAND”, indicating post-war export. Notably, this example features a rare and desirable unmodified cylinder (chambered in .455 Webley). The revolver is fully matching and serialized on the frame, barrel, and cylinder. The bluing is the bright, early style as opposed to the more common later "War Finish". The revolver has retained about ~92% of its finish, with most of the wear concentrated to the grip straps, with mild discoloration and hints of patina on the straps and a couple spots of finish loss and a few tiny dings on the trigger guard. Profiles are excellent, but there is some wear on the high edges of the side flats, around the muzzle, and on the front edges of the cylinder. Some scattered handling marks here and there. A few small blemishes on the rear sight, and a bit of patina around the hammer. Excellent shiny bore. The revolver is fitted with its correct black composite grips featuring fine molded checkering. The grips are in mostly great condition, without major cracks or chips, only light handling marks from use. However, the right grip panel is noticeably smoother than the left, with checkering far less pronounced on that side as a result. Screws and pins are generally unmarred and seated flush. The top-break action opens and locks up solidly. The hinge and barrel latch show tight fitment with no wobble. The cylinder indexes properly with distinct locking notches, and the action functions smoothly in both single and double action with good timing.
