Description
11/17/25- For sale is a very rare "ground Rohm" SA dagger. The 1933 honor dagger was issued in 1934 for members of the SA who had been members since at least 1931. The original daggers had the etched inscription "In Herzlicher Freundschaft Ernst Rohm", but after Rohm and his associates were purged by Hitler in June 1934, these daggers were ordered to be destroyed. These daggers are some of the very earliest SA daggers ever issued and the political purge makes them very rare, even in defaced condition. The blade on this dagger has some scabbard wear and the etching on the front is clear. The back of the dagger shows the typical pattern of grinding, with a long smooth patch side to side, not the cross grains of a factory grind. The bottom of the Eickhorn maker stamp is also smoothed down, indicating that the blade was ground down after leaving the original factory. The back of the crossguard has a "NrH", indicating membership in the Niederrhein regional organization, another indication of very early dagger issue. The dagger hilt is very nice, with tight fittings to the crossguard and well-fitting emblems. The pommel nut has patina around it, indicating it hasn't been unscrewed in a long time. The scabbard has some wear and slight paint chipping. There is some patina on the zinc fittings. The dagger has both leather hangers. Overall in very good condition and a very rare piece.
