Description
10/21/25 - This is an excellent pair of individual focus 7x50 binoculars produced by the E. Leitz Wetzlar company for the Kriegsmarine early in WWII. The left eyepiece shows the rarely seen full name of the manufacturer (normally just the german mfg. code BEH), 7x50 magnification, and the serial number 309091. The right eyepiece is marked M (German Naval issue), N (For Nordsee, indicating North Sea deployment), and the unit number 8420. Most surviving examples have hazed optics and the Porro II prisms are often damaged, due to a design flaw where the prism mount did not effectively protect against the extreme impacts and massive temperature fluctuations they were subjected to in battle. These factors considered, this particular pair has excellent optics. Both lense are perfectly clear, though the collimation of the prisms is ever so slightly off, leading to a minor ghosting effect. The focus functionality is excellent as well. The Exterior shell is free of damage or major blemishes and the rubber around the eye shield cover is nearly intact with minimal handling marks. Comes with excellent condition leather Trageriemen attached to a proper original bakelite Knopflasche.
