Description
3/20/26 - This is a gorgeous example of a Colt Army Special revolver, which unusually dates the gun to 1934. What makes this unusual is that Colt lists it as a 1934 Official Police model. Colt references list the Army special production switching to Official Police in 1927 at an unknown serial number, yet this one still shows the "Army Special" model designation on the left side of the barrel. Speaking with Colt about the matter, they actually continued to make Army Special well into the mid-1930s, sharing the range with the Official Police designation. Several examples have been lettered as late as 1936, which similarly contradicts known serial ranges for the Army Special. This example is all matching, with serial numbers stamped on either side of the crane. Chambered in .32--20 W.C.F. with a 5" barrel, it has the later military blue finish, which has been virtually all retained. The only wear to note is a faint turn line and a few handling marks on the cylinder. Mint bore and excellent original rubber Colt grips. It includes an original box, though it is not numbered to the gun, and several test targets. Only one target is serialised, and while close in range, it does not match.
