Description
3/5/26- For sale is a pair of German 10x80 flak spotting binoculars. These high-powered optics were used for tasks like directing anti-aircraft fire, spotting for artillery, or long-range observation by commanders in the field. These heavy binoculars originally came as part of a set with tripod, forehead rest, compass, and other accessories. The exterior of these binoculars is painted a greenish-brown camouflage color, although there is significant wear and loss of paint across the exterior. There are spots of light rust or corrosion but no apparent deep scrapes or serious damage. The optics are mostly clear, about 90% clarity, with some light wear and fogging to the internal lenses. The left lens will focus but the adjustment knob on the right side seems loose and does not focus clearly. There is one slight delamination of the lens coating on the right side that does not seem to impact vision quality. The knob for adjusting lens spacing is functional. The internal lens filters all slide into place and are functional. There is a chunk missing from the knob itself between the "dunkel" and "mittel" settings. The side is marked with "D. F. 10x80 dkl 70965" along with the cold weather x and o symbols. dkl corresponds to Josef Schneider. Overall in fair condition.
