Description
10/2/25- For sale is a Hessian General Honor Decoration from the World War One period. Hesse was one of the component duchies that made up the German Empire and had its own Duke throughout the war. While all Hessian soldiers fought for the German Empire and were eligible for all German awards such as the Wound Badge or Iron Cross, soldiers from Hesse were also eligible for local awards such as the General Honor Decoration. The back of the medal translates to "For Bravery". The medal shows some patina and discoloration but no scrapes or damage to the metal. The ribbon has some spots of discoloration but no rips or serious fraying. There is no attachment pin as this medal was intended to be worn as part of a medal/ribbon bar on a uniform. Overall in very good condition.
