Description
11/20/25- For sale is an incredible named and identified set of World War One uniform items and issued equipment. The set includes 1x trench coat, 2x pants, 1x shirt, 5x leg wraps, 1x hat, 1x set of gloves, 1x U.S. Corrected English Small Box Respirator gas mask, 1x gas mask bag with issue card, 1x US M1917 helmet, 1x cartridge belt, 1x M1917 trench knife, and assorted photographs and personal papers. Many of the items have the name Dominick J Veronda or the initials DJV written somewhere inside, including the gas mask pouch, gas mask information card, helmet liner, and trench coat. Other items may also be named or initialed, but the major pieces are confirmed to be a part of a set. All the items are in generally very good to excellent condition, with the only notable damage being some fraying at the bottom hem of the shirt, some small rips/holes in the pants, and deterioration to the liner of the helmet. The items themselves are each very nice and would be at home in any collection but as a named, issued set it's an incredible and very rare collection!
The soldier, Dominick J Veronda, served in the 353rd Infantry Infantry Regiment, raised in the Kansas area in 1917. The regiment was part of the 177th Infantry Brigade and the 89th Infantry Division. The unit participated in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive of 1918. From our research, Veronda appears to have been born in Rock Island, Ill. and lived until 1948.
