Description
2/9/26- For sale is a crate of Japanese 7.7x56R ammo for the Type 92 aircraft machine gun. 7.7x56R is identical to British .303 and was just the Japanese renaming for the ammo after adopting certain British pattern weapons in the interwar period. The crate appears to be an original wartime Japanese crate, complete with one natural fiber rope handle and Japanese characters on the box lid, along with the 7.7 caliber designation. The box lid also is marked with "TR", possibly indicating tracer rounds. The box side is also painted with 7.7. One rope handle is missing. Inside the crate are 16 individual boxes of ammo that have all ben resealed in plastic. The boxes have not been opened or inspected. Google translate says that the boxes contain 50 rounds for a "7mm machine gun", which would support the idea of it being for a .303/7.7 Type 92 machine gun. There is mild discoloration and wear on the cardboard boxes but the boxes all appear intact. Overall in very good condition.
