Description
7/21/25 - The following is a very nice example of a late war German M42 helmet. It is a late war helmet as there are no decals on the helmet, a tradition which fell out of practice as the war progressed and the German military needed to get helmets out to their forces. The exterior of the helmet has most of its original factory paint intact, along with evidence of whitewash from possible winter use. There is freckling of patina throughout, most notably at the dome of the helmet, and all three split pins are intact. The interior of the helmet is very clean with almost all of the original paint and a small area of discoloration and freckling on the front right brim. The steel band and leather liner are intact and the leather is soft and malleable with one tongue partially torn and some surface cracking near the band, and the leather interior is marked "W.L.". The leather chinstrap is also fully intact but unattached to the helmet. Made by EF- Emaillierwerke Fulda, size 64, Lot # 2877.
