Description

11/26/25- For sale is a complete set of German D.K. 10x80 binoculars, often used for directing anti-air or ground artillery batteries. The set is very complete, including transport case, tripod, binoculars, mounting bracket, circular mounting disc, battery box, electrical wire, cleaning rag and brush, forehead rest, spare lightbulb, and external aiming frame. The only item missing is the small compass which is very rarely encountered. Otherwise, it's an entirely complete set. All pieces have expected light wear from handling and age, but there is no serious damage on any piece. The plastic covering the elevation angle reader shows moderate cracking under angled light but the numbers underneath are still clearly readable. The forehead rest tends to get stuck in the crate but it is removeable with some wiggling. The binoculars have been fully set up and tested. The view quality is excellent, the lens filters are all intact and the selector switch moves easily, and the mountings freely move up and down and side to side. There is a large crack in the top of the crate, which has been remarked as a Swedish m/48 binocular set, although with close inspection, the slightly raised edges of the original German stenciling can be seen under the paint. The exterior of the crate has wear, scratches, and chipping but little noticeable damage other than the crack on the top. The tripod is fully intact and functional without notable damage. The binoculars, bracket, and round base plate all have different serials and come from different manufacturers, which is very common. The binoculars themselves are marked dkl 42903 with triangle and x lubrication markings, the bracket is marked clk 129262 with triangle lubrication marking, and the base is marked cxn 55281 with circle lubrication markings. dkl is Schneider in Kreuznach, clk is F.W. Breithaupt & Sohn in Kassel, and cxn is Emil Busch in Rathenow. Set is entirely functional and overall in excellent condition. The book "Eyes of the Wehrmacht" by Stephen Rohan, all about the 10x80 binocular set, is included in the listing.
