Description
12/19/25- For sale is a rare M1913 Telescopic Musket Sight made by Warner and Swayse. These rare scopes were an early attempt to provide magnified optics for the the M1903 rifle and the M1909 Benét–Mercié machinegun. Only around 5,500 of these scopes were made, with only 1,500 ever actually being attached to rifles and used. This scope comes with the scope, the eyepiece, and the leather carrying case. The scope itself has wear and patina on all pieces, including dirt and grime on the lenses. The adjustment knobs turn and seem fully functional. The view quality through the optics is poor, with about 20% visibility. The crosshairs are visible and a magnified image can be seen but there is significant grime, spotting, and darkening of the image. The small plates that suggest sight adjustments for shooting at different ranges are still attached to the exterior boxy frame of the scope. The closure straps for the carrying case are broken and missing. The lid of the case has broken off in one solid piece but is still included with the set. The belt hook is present and functional. The back of the case is stamped with "Diamond and Co.". Set is overall in fair condition.
