The double-edged, mirror-polished blade bears the ZIK maker’s mark above the date “1953,” along with serial number C-N533. All gilded brass hilt fittings including the crossguard with elegant recurved quillons and a faceted pommel adorned with a Soviet star emblem retain their original gold plating. The synthetic amber-colored grip (light orange celluloid/Bakelite) is immaculate, free of any cracks or chips. Black lacquered scabbard is in excellent condition, but does have a few tiny spots where the paint is thinning. Fitted with ornate gilded brass mounts featuring the distinctive Soviet Air Force motifs; one side shows a winged propeller insignia set over a radiant sunburst, while the other side depicts the Spasskaya Tower of the Kremlin surmounted by flying jet aircraft.
