They were seafarers, raiders, and feared warriors. Now known as Vikings, with a complex and conflicting history, blending fact and myth, the legacy of the fearsome Norsemen endures. This edition is a tribute to the Viking Warrior.
While modern imagination may synthesize history with Norse mythology, the life of a Viking was certainly defined by conflict. Raiding, and victorious conquest, meant survival in the harsh North - assuming that one conquered the violent sea and storms in their path.
The great sea serpent, Jörmungandr, mythologically loomed and was the great enemy of the legendary hero Thor. A dramatic carving in stainless steel coils on the top of this custom Kimber 1911, amidst the wave-like nordic scroll. Thor’s hammer is engraved above the firing pin, primed to release lead, if not lightning.
The slide features a symbolic sea battle with different depictions of the sea monster and the Viking Drakkar, the wooden longboat each with a carved head of its own monster. Lightning over the windswept waves illuminates the oldest of battles - Man vs Nature. Portraits of Viking warriors resolutely staring onwards complete the masterful collage.
The spring cover is uniquely engraved with a full Viking sail. Extensive coverage of the flowing nordic scroll wrap around the frame and trigger guard. And finally, engraved in deep relief on the frontstrap and custom grips is the Valknut, the Viking symbol of fallen heroes.
It is said that a Viking’s funeral marked the end of a life of war. Flames consumed the body and longboat on one final sea voyage - a fitting end for a Viking Warrior
