Description
04/02/26 - For sale is a Model 1840 made by Pomeroy in 1844. The rifle is percussion-fired, but the nipple is absent. The metal has no finish with oxidation and patina spots throughout. some light surface corrosion around the rear of the barrel and on the hammer. The lockplate is darkened from oxidation with a US Eagle and "Pomeroy" stamped. Behind the hammer is 1844 US. The stock is in great shape, but has been cleaned up. The surface is smooth. There is an inspection stamp that is faint on the left side of the wrist. There are a couple of splits developing between the grains on the underside in front of the trigger guard. The cleaning arod is absent. The bore is dark and does not look to be rifled.
