Description
2/12/26- For sale is a rare Nazi era NPEA dagger with an original scabbard and a replaced early pattern SA handle. The NPEAs were National Political Institutes of Education, boarding schools meant to educate and train future elite Nazis. Many were founded in 1933 and 1934 right after the Nazi takeover and students were issued dress daggers just like almost every other Nazi party formation. The daggers looked very similar to standard SA daggers but had different blade etchings, a different scabbard, and a plain handle. Theis dagger has a nice blade with the clearly etched motto "Mehr sein als scheinen", which translates to "Be more than you seem". The blade is clean, with only a few small spots of patina and a few spots of light buffing or scabbard wear. The back of the blade is marked with "Karl Burgsmuller Berlin Charlottenburg 5.". Burgmuller was not the manufacturer but was the only authorized distributor of these daggers so it is entirely correct. The handle on this dagger has been unfortunately replaced with an SA handle, although a nice one. The handle has minor wear to the wood and no serious damage. The eagle and SA emblem are very well fit into the wood. The crossguard has the early SA pattern "Nrh" region marking. The plain metal scabbard has a few minor spots of wear but maintains most of the original paint. Overall in very good condition and a rare addition to an Nazi dagger collection.
