Description
10/27/25 - This is a rare and desirable Model 1937 Fascist Italian Leader Dagger, a ceremonial weapon issued to high-ranking members of Benito Mussolini’s National Fascist Party and paramilitary groups like the MVSN ("Milizia Volontaria Per La Sicurezza Nationale"), which translates to Blackshirts. Inspired by ancient Roman pugiones and introduced in 1937, it was not a combat weapon, but a status symbol linking Fascism to Roman imperial grandeur. This particular example is the earlier 1937 chained version, as the 1939 version used leather hangers. It comes complete with the even less common original chain. The blade is in phenomenal condition, with its original factory edge profile entirely intact, the finish still impressively bright, showing only typical light surface scratches to the chrome finish. Its aluminum hilt is in equally fantastic condition, while the black grip panels and fascist emblem also near-mint. The all-steel, dent-free scabbard retains the vast majority original paint, with minor chips and handling marks throughout, but are in great shape as well. The original brass chain, "M" (M legion) fitting, and the belt clip embellished with a fascist eagle and SPQR are also excellent, with minimal signs of handling wear and tarnishing.
