Description
12/2/25 - For sale is a scarce No 4 Mk1(T) Sniper made by BSA Shirley for WW2. These rifles were the standard British sniper rifles developed in the late 1930s and used until the early 1960s. The receiver side wall is marked "No. 4 Mk I T", and the receiver ring is marked "M47C/1944/B38836/TR". The rifle is matching numbers throughout, and was originally telescope ready as it has the serial of the original scope on the wrist.
The scope mount and can that are included here do not match the serial of the rifle, and are mismatched from each other. This original No. 32 MKIII scope is marked by maker with serial and broad arrow proof. The scope lens is fairly clear but there is some debris visble creating a slight smudging.
It is fitted with its original, correct wartime smooth semi-pistol grip stock with the standard proof marks, matching serial number on the forestock and correctly stamped "S51" on behind the pistol grip area. The buttstock is fitted with a wartime pot metal buttplate with butt trap compartment and the correct screw-on cheekpiece. The scope tin is especially rare and seldom seen, as most feature the canvas case. The scope number matches the scope case serial number. Comes with an original WWII issue Chest S.A. No.15.Mk.1, green wooden storage/shipping container. The original markings on the front appear to have been erased/sanded off. The metal finish shows oxidation. The leather handles are drying out and should be handled with care. Small import mark on the right side of the muzzle.
