Description
8/12/25 - For sale is a Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor rifle made in 1891. These rifles were shortened versions of the 1884 rifle used by military cadets for training. The rifle has an aged finish with most of the bluing turning to a dark grey and patina. The lock plate is well-worn worn and the stampings are fading away. The stock has been lightly sanded in the past, and there are a couple of cracks to note. One is between the receiver and the top rear cross bolt. Another crack about 1.5" in length behind the lock plate and another 1/2" in front of the lock plate. Bore is fairly bright, but there's visible light pitting about 2 inches from the muzzle.
