Description
6/6/25 - Beginning in 1906, a number of 1899 Krag Carbines, along with a few 1898 Carbines, were altered for Philippine Constabulary use by fitting them with cut-down 1898 Krag rifle stocks equipped with sling swivels and bayonet lugs. The ends of the larger diameter carbine barrels were turned down with a lathe in order to permit the use of the standard bay¬?onet. These modified Krag Carbines resembled miniature Krag rifles. These Philippine Converted Krags known today as Philippine Constabulary Rifles.
The metal has lost most of its finish throughout. There is also micropitting on the receiver and magazine wall. The stock is in good shape with handling marks throughout. The left side is stamped J.F.C. in a box. The bore is bright with strong rifling but there are two spots of pitting visible. The rifle comes with a Krag Bayonet without a scabbard. The blade is unsharpened and in great shape overall.
