SOLD - 1936 Dated Tropical Pattern K98 Bayonet

2/16/26- For sale is a 1936 dated tropical style K98 bayonet. The tropical bayonets were intended for use in hot climates like the Mediterranean or even in North Africa with the famous Afrika Korps. The leather frogs were replaced with brown canvas to avoid issues with shrinking and moisture retention and the wooden grips were replaced with Bakelite for the same reason. This bayonet and scabbard have been chromed, obviously not an original combat configuration although the set does look nice. The blade is clean with very light patina. The blade is marked S/245 on one side, which indicates manufacture by Jetter und Scheerer. The other side is serialized 2621 and the spine of the blade is marked 36 for 1936. The Bakelite grips are intact with minimal wear and no damage. The scabbard is also chromed and is serialized 2026g, a close number but not an exact match. The scabbard is stamped clc 1942. The bayonet has the tropical style canvas frog with an ink stamp on the back. The canvas is intact with no tears or loose stitching. Overall in very good conditon.
