Description
1/28/26 - This is a scarce James Reid "My Friend" Knuckle-Duster Revolver, chambered in .22 Short. Manufactured from 1868-1882, these revolvers were intended to serve the dual purpose of a pocket pistol and a set of brass knuckles. It has a top strap groove sight with the left side marked "MY FRIEND PAT'D. DEC. 26, 1865". The revolver is in great overall condition. Although it originally had a nickel-plated finish, most of the nickel has worn away over time, revealing the underlying, beautifully engraved brass. The cylinder, hammer, and other small parts show an even brownish patina throughout. Smooth bores are in very good shape, showing only mild oxidation. Good mechanics. Antique, so no licensing required.
