Description
7/29/25 - This is a very nice example of a Canadian Ross Mk III M10 issued to the British military during WWI. This is referred to as the M10E with its adjustable rear sight that has a ramped top piece and slightly different front sight. These sights were modeled after the Pattern 14, per British military preference. The British military ordered about 66,000 of these from the Ross Company, although it's estimated only about 10,000 were actually made. There are British arsenal proofs around the chamber and an "LC" marking. This stands for "Large Chamber" and indicates that the chamber was slightly reamed to accommodate the tolerances of the British ammunition. The number on the bolt does not match the receiver. The stock has been lightly sanded and does not show any stamps. The metal shows a dull blued finish. While there is very little actual finish loss, there is some spotty oxidation and minor pitting along the barrel. The bore shows decent rifling, but there is pin-pricking throughout.
