Description
7/31/25 - This is a nice example of a German military bakelite Dienstglas optic 6x30 set of binoculars made by CXN, the German military code for Emil Busch A.-G., Optische Industrie, Rathenow. These binoculars were made of a red-hued bakelite which is a plastic material in order to preserve raw materials like metal for the German war effort as the war progressed. The bakelite is in decent condition with three noticeable surface cracks on the left base. The hinge to open and close the binocular is smooth and opens and closes easily and has the triangle manufacturer mark on the center hinge. The lenses are clear and can be focuesd easily, but there is a rattling in the left body which indicates possible damage or a broken internal piece. Left side near the eyepeice is stamped "CXN" and the right is stamped "Dienstglas", "6x30". These also come with a leather neck strap which has a nice natural aged patina to it.
