Description
01/27/26 - For sale is a desirable gap letter International Harvester M1 Garand made in 1953. These M1 Garands had receivers made by Springfield under contract from IHC and had a unique gap between letters on the roll stamp. These were observed in the 4.6 million serial range, and another batch of 15,000 rifles starting from 5,198,034 to 5,213,034. The rifle has an excellent finish throughout with light finish loss, mainly around the roll stamp on the receiver and the edges. The stock is in excellent condition but has been lightly sanded. There is a faint Cross cannon stamp on the left side. The bore is bright with strong rifling. The muzzle erosion rates a 3, and the throat erosion 1. The barrel is marked LMR 10-53. The trigger housing, hammer, op rod, bolt, windage & elevation, gas plug, and safety are marked IHC.
