Description
10/20/25 - This is an excellent, complete example of an early Wehrmacht Heer Dolch manufactured by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Cieo of Solingen. It has all the proper early characteristics, heavy, slant grip, tapered tang, etc. The blade is itself is practically pristine, with just a touch of barely visible scabbard wear. Factory crossgrain visible throughout, and a completely intact edge profile, no signs of use or sharpening. The fit is nice and tight, and the large leather buffer is also in excellent condition. The acid etched Knights Head “WKC Solingen” maker mark is as good as it gets, dark and crisp. The dent-free steel, nickel silver plated scabbard has proper pebbling throughout, with oak leaf and acorn bands. The scabbard does have spots of mild handling wear and areas of light surface pitting. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with similar characteristics, with minor age related darkening. The brass based, silver plated WKC eagle crossguard is in excellent condition throughout the eagle’s head, wings, wreath, beak and chest. However, the reverse side does show some scratchy wear and surface level finish loss. The early, desirable slant orange trylon grip is nearly perfect, with no chips or cracks and just a tiny dots of light staining. The obverse of the grip is a darker orange hue, and the reverse slightly yellower in tone. This blade comes as a rig with excellent portepee and set of original hangers.
