Description
10/31/25 - This is an extremely rare, prewar Colt Super Match .38 in its original, matching box. In 1932, Colt had begun offering upgraded Government Model .45's. These guns featured Partridge sights, a hand-honed action and a "selected" match barrel. The Super .38 shooters demanded the same upgrades so in 1934 the Match Super .38 was introduced. In 1935 the rollmark was changed to Super Match, and the Stevens adjustable sights became standard on the Super match pistols and was offered as an option on the National Match pistols. One of an estimated 3,000-5,000 ever produced, this particular example was manufactured in 1937. Unfortunately, it appears the previous owner had this gun parkerized so the finish is rough and oxidized. Correct 'Super Match' barrel with MB in circle proof and a minty bore. Rare, original box that is matching numbered to this pistol on the bottom. Comes with the original, matching test target and manual.
