Description
9/18/25- For sale is a German army WWII Eastern Front white rabbit fur pelzmütze winter hat. After the Germans were famously unprepared for the Russian winter of 1941-42, new winter gear was quickly developed and deployed in the fall and winter of 1942. The hat has a stiff cloth top with rabbit fur lining and ear and neck flaps designed to keep the wearer warm. The liner is a six piece segmented leather liner which is a typical arrangement for German headgear. The eagle and swastika badge on the front is likely repurposed from a cloth cap to make the winter hat feel more like a regulation military item than the rapidly developed emergency item it was. The stitching is all original and tight and the fur is still soft and warm. There is minor wear but no serious damage. Overall in very good condition.
