Description
8/14/25 - Here we have a US Army Air Core Navigation Case Carrying Watch for sale. This was used by navigators on B-17 and B-24 bombers. The case is designed with springs and a cradle so that the AN5740 watch could absorb the shock of turbulence during the flying of combat missions. The case is a dull gray and has a top cover that can be slid to the side so that the watch is visible through a glass window while the case is enclosed. The name "Lukas, Vincent" is scratched onto the cover. There is a identification plaque on the front of the case. The back of the watch is marked with a serial number, a contract number, and has "Hamilton Watch Co." on the bottom. The felt on the watch cradle is in excellent condition, as are the springs it sits on.
