Description
11/5/25 - This is a scarce, very early Mauser C96 Broomhandle, one of the first 7500 made in 1897. Only about 14,000 guns were made with early features, including a cone shaped hammer that gave the gun its nickname. Chambered in a potent 7.63 Mauser caliber, these guns had ballistics comparable to light carbines, and could function as such when equipped with a detachable shoulder stock. They became especially popular with British officers, including Winston Churchill, and were used extensively in Boer wars. This particular example is all original with about 95% of bluing remaining. Though there isn't much actual finish loss, there are scattered areas of thinning, mild discoloration, and some mild freckling here and there on the frame and barrel. It is all matching, including beautiful original grips and original matching stock (also in excellent condition). The bore is shiny with decent rifling, but is oxidized throughout. Antique so no licensing is required.
