Description
3/13/26 - This is a very rare and desirable Winchester Model 12 Trench Shotgun that was issued to the U.S. military. It's in the proper serial range for Winchester Model 12 trench guns, and more specifically, the proper range for those with a factory parkerized finish. This range runs from only 1.03m to 1.036m with some blued examples mixed in, so this is a very rare military shotgun. The parkerizing on these original examples is somewhat distinct as they exhibit a lack of final polishing. Receiver is U.S. marked with flaming bomb ordnance proof. Stock has sharp GHD inspector's mark over crossed cannons cartouche. Correct Model 12 stock with thicker wrist. The barrel, receiver, magazine and handguard/bayonet adapter have the gray-green parkerized finish found on Winchester M1 rifles and M1 carbines. The finish is very nice overall, with minor edge wear on the receiver and heat shield. The trigger and slide release have the blue commercial finish. The wood furniture is in terrific condition. Original Winchester buttplate with no cracks or chips. Shiny bore with a hint of use. Note that there is some cosmoline in the barrel and receiver/action. 20in barrel marked 'cyl' is correct. Proper 4-row heat shield, and the bayonet adaptor has a Winchester 'W' marking.
