Description
11/7/25- For sale is a WW2 Japanese hachimaki headband, commonly known as a kamikaze headband. While the most famous wearers of these headbands were the kamikaze suicide pilots, ground crews, other service branches, and civilian workers also wore patriotic headbands during the war to symbolize their dedication to the national war effort. The characters on the headband say "divine wind", the literal translation of the word kamikaze. The smaller line of text has a name and the title, roughly, of Director General of the Bureau of Weapons and Aviation, indicating that this was a mass-produced item for the war effort. The cloth is a nice thin woven fabric, likely cotton. There are no rips, tears, stains, or fraying. There are some loose strands at the top and bottom where it was cut during the manufacturing process. The text appears to be stamped rather than hand-written. Overall in excellent condition.
