04/02/26 - For sale is a Model 1863 style short rifle chambered in .58 caliber. The markings on the lockplate are all but worn away. There is a faint wing of the US Eagle visible. The barrel was shortened to 32". The metal is well aged wtih a dark grey and brown patina finish. The lock plate looks like it had its markings ground or removed, and there was some pitting that developed over it. The barrel or tang has no markings. Stock has a lot of chatter marks. There is a hairline 1" crack in front of the buttplate on the left side. Bore is fair while on the darker side, the rifling is still visible. Rifle functions properly. The rear sight leaf is absent.
