Description
10/9/25 - For sale is a Steyr VK-98 rifle made towards the end of WW2. The VK-98 (or VG-5) rifle was a simplified K98k to speed up production. The ladder sight was replaced with a dovetailed V-notch sight, the stock was either a cut down Kriegsmodell stock (up to 2400 serial number) or a Beechwood Slab stock. The rifle has a refinished dulled military blue finish. The rifles would normally be in a phosphate finish. The stock is a cut down kriegsmodell stock but is outside of the recognized serial number block. The stock has been sanded heavily. There are numerous splits on each side of the stock. The majority of the bore is bright with good rifling, but there is visible pitting and corrosion towards the last 4 inches of the muzzle. The muzzle is counterbored. The bottom of the receiver is properly stamped with a "V" which is correct for a VK-98. The bolt is mismatched and from a K98k. The front sight is welded which is also correct. There is no "Mod 98" stamped on the left side.
