Description
3/16/26- For sale is an American M1874 belt buckle and belt fragment from the Indian Wars era. The Indian Wars were the US Army's campaign against natives in the west and on the Great Plains in the years after the Civil War, including events like the Battle of Little Bighorn and the Massacre at Wounded Knee. The buckle is the standard brass 1874 pattern buckle with the large US in an oval. The belt itself is aged and worn, with only about 7 inches of leather present in the fragment. The leather is still flexible but leaves discoloration and small flecks of decayed leather behind. There is also a brass loop in the buckle for the attachment of various shoulder straps or hangers. Overall in fair condition.
