Description
3/27/26- For sale is a USN Mk.1 bayonet. The bayonet itself is a variant of the common M1905 bayonet for the Springfield 1903 rifle that remained in service until the end of WWII across US forces. The Navy had lower priority for infantry equipment like rifles and bayonets and so kept the 1905 pattern in use even as the Army was largely transitioning to the M1 Garand and its associated bayonets. The blade is nicely blued with light scabbard wear and no serious damage or blade chipping. One side of the blade is marked "SA 1918" for Springfield Arsenal 1918, along with the flaming bomb proof, indicating official US WWI production. The other side of the blade is marked US along with the serial 827178. The scabbard is a WWII hard scabbard, marked at the throat with "USN MK 1". There is light wear on the scabbard and some light chipping of the edges but no cracks or serious damage. Overall in excellent condition.
