Description
2/16/26 - This is a very rare and desirable Iraqi Tariq pistol with Diwani roll mark inscription reading "The nation is the honor of the warrior – A gift from the president, the leader Saddam Hussein for whoever fights for his country.” This "gift" variant Tariq would've been presented to certain families and widows of Iraqi soldiers who were killed during the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s. All original and in excellent condition, this example has minor high edge wear on the muzzle and front edges of the slide, and a minor spot of finish loss on top of the barrel. There is also a visible ding in the serrations on the right side of the slide. The grips have many scratches and scuffs but no cracks or chips. The two panels are slightly different in tone, so it's possible one panel was replaced.
The "gift" variant Tariq is a standard 9x19mm Beretta Model 1951-patterned pistol that differs only in the elegant presentation scroll on the right side of the slide. Silah report did research on these pistols and their best guess as to the purpose of these pistols was that "it is possible that families whose husbands had been involved in certain heroic actions and were thus presented with the “Gift” Tariq as a posthumous medal of some sort."
