Description
7/24/25 - This is a very rare example of a German WWII admiral's uniform with various medals attached. The admirals uniform which is made of dark blue fine tricot wool appears to have been barely worn, and has the various loops attached on the jacket for awards. There are gilded tombak buttons featuring anchor motifs and a gilded tombak closure clasp on a chain. The lining appears to be either artificial silk or Rayon. While there is a patch inside of the left inner breast pocket of the jacket that states the coat belongs to "Adm. A. Saalwachter" and has a date of "5 Marz 1935" the text of the label is typed and we can not verify that it 100% belonged to Admiral Alfred Saalwachter. Admiral Saalwachter was a U-Boat officer in the First World War and commander of all U-Boat forces in World War II who was eventually captured and executed by the Soviet Union in December 1945. We also can not verify that all the awards on the jacket belonged specifically to Admiral Saalwachter, but most of the awards with the exception of the "High Seas" award on the bottom left of the jacket are decorations that he would have earned and are authentic to the period. The swastika patch on the right breast of the coat is professionally hand sewn on, as are the admirals stars above the "piston rings" on the sleeves. Featured in the youtube video here!
