Description
02/25/26 - For sale is a Winchester Model 1897 made in 1916. This shotgun was originally a riot gun that was converted to a trench gun configuration. The gun was refinished with new parkerization, likely by the prior owner who converted this gun. The finish is coarse and running the pump is a bit rough. The US and flaming bomb stamp are visible on the right side ahead of the ejection port, but is thin from the refinishing. The stock is in good shape, but there is a sealed crack on the left side about 1/2" in length. There are no martial stamps. The bore is bright. There is a sealed hole for the front sight bead when it was originally a riot gun. The indentation of the provisions for the heatshield screws is also visible in the bore, but they do not protrude through. There is also another sealed hole that looks the same size as a sight bead behind the heatshield, on top of the barrel, that we do not know why it was there.
