Description
3/18/26- For sale is a WW2 era Japanese Type 95 sword. During the wars in China and the Pacific, Japanese soldiers still wanted to carry traditional style swords but traditional smiths couldn't possibly supply the large new numbers of officers and NCOs so machine-made swords were introduced to fill the gaps. This sword is a very nice example of these wartime factory swords. The blade is about 27 inches long and bright, with minimal patina and wear. There are one or perhaps two tiny spots of unevenness along the blade. The blade is serialized 19936. The handle is cast metal painted to resemble the traditional style of handle wrapping. The paint is almost entirely intact which is rare. The scabbard is painted a tan-brown color and has light wear and minimal loss of paint, with no dents or damage. The scabbard lip is serialized 23827, so not a match to the blade. Overall in excellent condition.
