WWI German M17 Gas Mask with Cannister

10/14/25- For sale is a German M17 gas mask, an iconic piece of military history. WWI is famous, or infamous, for the heavy use of poison gas on the battlefield, making the gas mask an essential piece of survival equipment. The German mask, with the two wide eyes and drooping cannister snout, along with the heavy steel Stahlhelm, became instantly recognizable emblem of the German military and of the war as a whole. This mask is all original with filter cannister, eye lenses, and carrying cannister. The oilcloth is intact and in very good condition, still flexible and not flaking too badly. The leather liner around the edges of the mask is also in good condition, with some age-related wear but no rips, damage, or missing segments. The cloth head straps are present and attached. The filter cannister is dated February 1918. The eye lenses are present and intact with expected yellowing but no cracks. The carrying cannister has some wear and patina but probably around 80% of its original gray paint. This is overall a very cool piece and in excellent condition!
